Seasonal In-Kind and Financial Contributions

Green Doors accepts both financial and material contributions that directly benefit its residents. You can assist with fundraising activities or help by planning a donation drive at specific times of the year like Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, the winter holidays, or on our Residents' Birthdays. If you wish to contribute items listed below, please contact Diego Abeloos at 512-469-9130 or for delivery arrangements.

Take a look at the seasonal events' wish list and organize a donation drive among your friends and family:

Easter Egg Hunts

Every year, close to Easter, Green Doors hosts a resident appreciation event for individuals and families. For this event, we need Easter candy, Easter baskets, festive plates, cups, napkins, and plastic ware, festive foods for cook outs and other refreshments. We also need volunteers to help set up and clean up this fun, festive event.

Halloween Party

Every year, close to Halloween, Green Doors hosts a resident appreciation event for individuals and families. For this event, we need Halloween candy, Halloween baskets, festive plates, cups, napkins, and plastic ware, festive foods for cook outs and other refreshments. We also need volunteers to help set up and clean up this fun, festive event.

Thanksgiving Celebration Meals

Every year, close to Thanksgiving, Green Doors purchases a $60 Thanksgiving Meal from local grocery stores for residents of Green Doors' Homes. The meal consists of turkey, stuffing, and all the fixin's for each eligible household. For this event, we need a $60 donation per household that you are interested in sponsoring with a Thanksgiving dinner.

Winter Holiday Celebrations

During the winter holidays, Green Doors celebrates and honors its residents with the Adopt a Family program. During the winter holiday season, the staff and board at Green Doors ask the local community to become a Holiday Angel and Adopt a Green Doors Resident. Residents are diverse. Some are single mothers with children, others are single veterans (mostly men, but some women who served in the US Armed forces), and some are poor, working families at-risk of homelessness. One simple fact remains, none of them can afford their holiday meal or modest gifts shared by most throughout the winter holiday season. Volunteers can buy holiday gift cards or be matched with a family and purchase the things specified on their wish list.

Resident Birthday Box

To help people struggling with and at-risk of homelessness celebrate their birthdays, Green Doors asks the community to assemble birthday boxes. A birthday box consists of the following: festive plates, tablecloths, cups, napkins, plastic ware, candy, a birthday card, and two special gift cards, one for the grocery store so that a resident can buy cake, party foods, and refreshments, and one to a store in which a resident can buy a gift item.
